Grrr!

So I broke down today and ate some popcorn at the movies with my girls. We went and saw The Lion King and I just couldn’t resist. I am not going to give up and I will try again!

Tomorrow will be again day 1 and I am going to concentrate on doing just 5 days at a time rather than looking at the huge goal of 60 days. After each 5 days I will weigh myself and decide if I am going to be able to continue for another 5 days.

It was a great day otherwise. It was really cool to watch the movie with the girls and they loved the movie. Both the girls did cry when the dad died and it was really sad, but otherwise they like the movie. My 4 year old did crack me up because she decided halfway through not to wear the glasses and I can’t see how she would be able like the movie in 3D without the 3D.

I am really excited to start again tomorrow and I will also be able to start fresh with a lot of other things I want to get control of in my life including not procrastinating with my homework, keeping the house in better order, being a more consistent mom and a better friend.

I just need to concentrate on what is important to me and stop waiting until tomorrow to get my life to be the way that I hope it to be.

Days 2 and 3

Oops, already skipped a day! Well I have a good excuse. On day 2 I fell asleep at 7pm and slept all the way through to 7am! For a night owl, this was a big surprise!

Today is day 3 and I have had a massive headache all day long, probably from caffeine withdrawal. I have increased my water intake which is good. I read on a Facebook community that it helps to drink a liter of water first thing in the morning so I am going to try that tomorrow.

I did weigh myself yesterday morning and I am starting this at 180.2 pounds. I plan on only weighing in every 15 days so I don’t get discouraged. My goal at the next weigh in is to be at 170 or less. I plan on posting pics every 15 days to show progression of weight loss.

That’s all for today, I’m going to have some tea and hit the sack.

Juice Fast Day 1 of 60

Third times a charm. I am again going to make it this time! So far today I had 20 ounces of super yummy watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple. Then I made up my 72 ounces of assorted veggie juice which consisted of cucumbers, kale, parsley, collard greens, cabbage, carrots and oranges. I slacked a bit today and am just now finishing up my last juice.

Tomorrow I need to definitely up my water intake as I haven’t had any today. Also tomorrow I am going to weigh in so I can post it here. Then I plan on not weighing in until the fast is over. I have found that when I weigh in it ends up sabotaging me. If I am ahead of where I want to be then I convince myself that I can cheat a bit since I am ahead. Then if I am behind then I give up and cheat too. So my solution is to not weigh in until the end and really pay attention to how I feel and how my clothes fit.

I will also post my pics and measurements so I can see how feel this works for me.

My plan after the 60 days is to try to work my way in to a vegetarian or vegan diet.  I want to do this to not just lose weight, but also to feel better overall.

Restart Again

This has been a crazy week. It started by getting laid off on Monday. It wasn’t entirely unexpected since my boss had been giving me three days off a week for the past month or so. It should be ok since I will save about $500 a month on daycare and I will be able to get unemployment.  I am also going to start donating plasma next week to make a couple hundred extra dollars.

As far as my juicing goes I totally went off the rails since Monday. I used getting laid off as an excuse to break the fast and start eating. I have since then used any excuse I can get to not restart. Matt and my anniversary we went out to dinner. My daughter’s birthday I couldn’t start since we would be at an amusement park all day. Yesterday I was invited to my Grandma’s for dinner so I certainly couldn’t start then. But these are all just lame excuses and show how weak I have been. There will always be some excuse to not start living more healthy and taking care of myself.

Today is a new day. I am done with the excuses. I woke up this morning and made myself a delicious juice of pears, apples, cucumber, and grapes. I made my lunch as well of cucumber, tomato, celery, apple and lettuce. I have also set my goals for this fast. I am going to do a full 60 day cycle which will end on October 18th. I have set weight loss goals of losing at least 30 pounds in the 60 days. This will bring my weight down from 175 to 145 which will be less than I have been since I had my kids. My ultimate goal is to lose 50 pounds and stay within the 125-130 weight range for the rest of my life.

I took some before pictures today to help inspire me to continue on this fast. I plan on updating the pictures every 10 pounds lost.

Loving It!!!

Starting day 7 and feeling fantastic! I have never felt this good in my life. I have so much energy and motivation! I wish that I would have discovered how awesome juicing is earlier! So far I am down 9 pounds. The funny thing is that I started this in order to lose weight, but now that is becoming just a happy side effect.  The benefits of feeling great have begun to outweigh losing weight!

This morning I started off with a fruit juice made from 2 apples, an orange, a pear, and a bunch of grapes. It is the best tasting juice I have made so far.  I think I am going to start following recipes for my veggie juices to make them taste better. Up to this point I have been just making a juice of whatever I have around which is usually cucumbers, carrot, tomato, beet, string beans, kale, lettuce and an apple. I think it is just too many flavors.  It doesn’t taste too bad and I am able to drink it, but I want to be able to enjoy the veggie juice.

So far I also haven’t really been hungry which I find odd since I am usually so easily tempted and drawn to bad food.  Tonight will be a challenge though since I will be going out with my boyfriend for our 3 year anniversary. I’m sure we will go to a restaurant of some sort and I will be tempted, but I’m really not too worried about it. I’ve been able to resist pretty easy so far.

I hope to update this blog with some before and after pics soon!

Day 5

It just keeps getting better! I woke up early this morning feeling full of energy and have been going since with no slowing down. Usually I would feel groggy in the morning, awake for a few hours around lunch, super tired in the afternoon and modest energy after dinner. But today I woke up ready to go and have not quit nearly 17 hours later! I have had consistent energy throughout the entire day.

I started the day with a fruit juice made of 2 apples, cucumber, nectarine and grapes which made about 24oz. Lunch and dinner were 2 celery, 2 cucumbers, 10 carrots, a beet, an apple and a handful of green beans about 48 ounces. After dinner I had a nectarine, 2 apples, an orange and a pear for 24 ounces. I did find that it is best to peel the orange or the flavor is too strong.

I also find that I am spending way less on this diet than that I was on my previous diet which consisted mainly of fast food. Tonight I went to Walmart and was able to get enough fruits and veggies to last about a week for about $40. Not bad considering I was averaging around $10-12 a day in fast food, energy drinks and alcohol! Plus the benefit of endless energy without energy drinks!

This has also been great for my kids in that since I don’t want to eat fast food, they don’t get to either and we are all eating healthier. The girls are liking the juice too and I have been able to find ways to sneak some veggies in with the fruit.

Finally today I relilized that I have been feeling better emotionally.  I haven’t felt depressed at all which is something that I have struggled with most of my life.  I feel so amazingly good in every imaginable way!

Juicing Day 4

Today has been awesome!! My illness from yesterday is mostly gone with the exception of congestion. I have actually found myself craving juice and loving the taste of it.

I have more energy than normal and even woke up an hour ahead of schedule with lots of energy. This is amazing considering that I am not a morning person!

I also made my daughter an apple juice today and snuck in part of a cucumber. She loved it and think it will be a great way to get her to eat veggies!

She didn’t like my all veggie drink though so I’ll have to be sneakier! ;)

I am so happy that I decided to do this and take control of my health. Oh yeah and I’ve lost 6.6 pounds so far and that is an average of 2.2 pounds a day! I know this will slow down, but it is so amazing to see results so quickly! I know juicing is going to be a major part of my life from now on!

Juicing Day 3

Today was the hardest day so far since I started this juicing program. I felt like I had the flu. Fever of 101, muscle soreness, clogged sinuses, etc. I spent the majority of the day in bed sleeping, which was a bummer since it was supposed to be Matt’s and my day off without the kids. We were going to go to Silverwood and we got there and I just wasn’t feeling up to riding any rides.

It was sad to not be able to do the things that I wanted to today, but I know in the long run that this will make me healthier, stronger and happier. This is just a bump in the road on my journey to a better me.

Restart and Reboot

I watched the documentary last week called Fat, Sick, and Almost Dead. It was life changing for me. I have since decided to do a juicing fast to cleanse my body and hopefully shed some weight in the process. I plan on doing a 60 day cleanse.

I am now on Day 2 of pure juice and feeling ok.  They say the first few days are the worst. Yesterday I had a horrible headache and broke down and took a Aspirin.  Today my allergies seem to be in hyper drive, but it is all part of the detox process.  I have lost 2.2 pounds so far and am really excited to see what the scale says tomorrow!  I hope to update this blog as I go through this process and encourage others to try a juice cleanse.

HCG Diet Results Week One

I have been on the HCG diet for one week so far and I am loving it!
I started the diet weighing 176 pounds. After the required two days of gorging (which was awesome and I ate almost 11,000 calories over the two days). After the gorge days I was up to 180.6.
I continued to take the drops and started on the 500 calorie a day diet last Thursday. Since then I have lost 10 pounds. Taking into account the weight gain over the gorge days I am down 6 pounds overall in just 5 dieting days!
I haven’t felt hungry at all and the only thing I have had that was off the diet was 2 McDonalds French Fries I convinced the employee to give me when I got the girls dinner there last night. (big improvement. Every other diet I would have given in and ordered a meal for myself!)
I have also lost 4 inches overall and can already tell my clothes fit a bit better. I can’t believe how easy this is and how much I’ve lost. Hopefully it keeps up and I get to my goal of 141 pounds by the end of this. That would be a 35 pound loss in 45 days and put my skinnier than I have been since I had my daughter nearly 8 years ago.
Once I finish the 45 days I plan to continue on a healthy diet to lose the last 15 pounds and keep it off and be healthy for the rest of my life.
